To achieve a high quality finish, proper surface preparation is vital. Remove all grease, wax, dirt and soap residues with an abrasive pad moistened with mineral spirits. Note: Do not apply over shellac, lacquer, wax or stains containing wax or strearates. Floor previously finished with lacquer or shellac must be completely sanded before applying this polyurethane. Glossy Surfaces should be dulled with very fine sandpaper or buffed with # 100 or #120 grit 3M screen. All dust must be entirely removed by vacuuming or sweeping and tacked with a lint free cloth lightly dampened with mineral spirits. For best results, use over Dunham’s Quick Dry sealer, according to label directions. For new woods make several passes with 3M sandpaper while increasing paper fineness, before application of Dunham’s Matte Finish Polyurethane. The final pass should be with a #100 grit 3M screen, disc or sandpaper.

To ensure a uniform finish, stir gently before and frequently during use. With a good quality brush or lamb’s wool applicator, apply uniform, smooth thin coat of polyurethane with the grain of the wood. If desired, apply a second coat in about 4-6 hours 1depending on humidity or weather conditions. For best results light sanding between coats is recommended. Note: Polyurethane may have a slight amber effect when applies over white or light colored surfaces.

Approximately 400-600 square feet per gallon (depending on the surface) keep can close when not in use. For cabinet, furniture and fine work pour polyurethane into a clean container and do not return polyurethane to original containers. This product is designed to be used directly from the can without thinning under normal environmental and application conditions.

Immediately after use, clean brushes and applicator with paint thinner or mineral spirits.

Dunham’s Matte Finish Polyurethane contains petroleum solvents. Keep away from heat and flame. To avoid inhaling vapors or dust, open window and doors to use other means to ensure entry of fresh air during application and drying. Always wear respiratory protection. If you experience eye watering, headaches, dizziness or nausea, increase fresh air or leave the area. If swallowed, get quick medical attention. Do not induce vomiting. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Wear protective clothing and thoroughly wash after handling. Do not store above 100 degrees F (38 degrees C). Do not smoke during application and until all vapors (odors) are gone. To avoid spontaneous combustion during temporary waste storage, soak waste immediately after use in water filled, closed metal container. Maintenance: Maintain floors by sweeping or vacuuming frequently to remove loose dirt. Use wood cleaner periodically to remove embedded soils. As finish turns dull or wears away, wood can be screened with a #100 grit 3M screen and another coat of polyur
